Kathy is an internationally respected Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Expert and is the first NSW Chief Infection Control Professional (ICP) & Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI) Advisor for the NSW Government’s Clinical Excellence Commission – the lead agency supporting safety improvement in the NSW Health system. Kathy is also a member of the Australian Government’s Infection Control Expert Group (ICEG) that advises the Australian Health Protection Principle Committee (AHPPC) on IPC issues.
 
As the NSW Chief ICP lead, Kathy has key responsibility for NSW’s COVID response and has routinely provided expert consultation for state, national and international IPC guidance and policy development throughout the pandemic. With her experience in biocontainment and outbreak management, Kathy has been instrumental in the control of outbreaks in aged care, hospitals and other high risk settings and has contributed to several high profile national and inter-jurisdictional infection control related reviews.
 
Kathy is a Board Director of ACIPC and holds the award of Credentialed Infection Control Professional – Expert (CICP-E). Kathy has a range of qualifications in infection control and hospital epidemiology, leadership and management and several internationally recognised certifications. Kathy is a current Future Leaders of Healthcare DrPH candidate and is considered a leader in the field of Infection Prevention and Control in Australia and abroad.
