Another hugely successful Dental Health Week has been held across locations in NSW and the ACT.
ADA NSW pop-up events were held this year at Tamworth, Dubbo, Shellharbour, Canberra, Coffs Harbour and at Bonnyrigg in Sydney, connecting ADA NSW with the community. Member dentists also visited childcare centres to educate children on good dental habits.
At the Dubbo event, member dentist Dr Sophie Halpin held an educational stand on the main street of Dubbo on Saturday. Dr Halpin was joined by member dentists Dr Rory Greer, Dr Melissa Lin and Dr Ryan Heggie.
Dr Caroline Madsen, Dr Kavitha Vegunta and Dr Aradhna Rastogi also hosted a pop-up educational stand at Westfield Woden in the ACT.
At Bonnyrigg in Sydney, ADA NSW Vice-President Dr Jodie Olivier, Advocacy Committee member Dr David Sheen and ADA NSW Event Manager Allison Herbert were at an educational stand at Dai Le MP's ‘Bring Your Bill Day’ to speak about oral health and access to dental care with members of the community.
Meanwhile at Ethical Dental and Orthodontics in Coffs Harbour, Chloe (pictured) and the team set up a display of oral hygiene products to help patients ‘be good to your gums'. In the NSW Illawarra-South Coast, member dentist Dr Mohit Tolani and team set up an educational stand within the Centre Health Medical Centre in Barrack Heights in Shellharbour.
There were also childcare visits held across NSW and the ACT. ADA NSW President Dr Dominic Aouad visited Handprints Killara to share some smiles and knowledge with the little ones.
Dr Aouad spoke to the pre-schoolers about the importance of oral health, emphasising the difference between 'sometimes' and 'anytime' foods for maintaining strong teeth and overall wellbeing. It was a fun and educational experience, teaching healthy habits from a young age.
Whilst dentist Dr Susan Leonera-Salazar visited Queanbeyan Childcare Centre as part of Dental Health Week. Dr Leonera-Salazar spent time educating the children on the importance of brushing their teeth. The session started with a fun and interactive demonstration on practice teeth showing the children the correct way to brush and explaining why good oral hygiene is essential.
After the practice session, each child received a dental kit and a colourful booklet that provides tips and guidelines on how to take care of their teeth. Thank you to all members who were involved with Dental Health Week this year.
