ADA NSW meets the Hon. Walt Secord

In just over a year, NSW residents will go to the polls to elect a new government. Part of our role in representing the profession is to ensure we have good working relationships with key policy makers on both sides of politics. We met recently with the Hon. Walt Secord, NSW Shadow Minister for Health, to ensure that he is aware of issues facing the profession. The issues discussed included:

  • The connection between oral health and general health, particularly in relation to chronic disease
  • Reducing the number of patients using hospital emergency departments for dental conditions rather than their dentist
  • Discussions around water fluoridation in Bega, Gunnedah and Oberon
  • Opportunities for the private sector to support the public system
Walt also confirmed that an ALP government would prioritise health policies tackling obesity and improving aged care services.” Neil Peppitt, ADA NSW President.
