2022 Australia Day Honours: Congratulations Conjoint Associate Professor Deb Cockrell, AM

Former ADA NSW President and long-serving ADA NSW Council member Deb Cockrell has been appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in this year’s Australia Day Honours List.
Conjoint Associate Professor Cockrell, who was ADA NSW President from 2013-15 and a member of the ADA NSW Council from 2001-2016, received the honour for significant service to dentistry, to professional organisations and to education.
Having migrated to Australia from the UK as an oral surgeon in 1996, Conj A/Prof Cockrell’s distinguished career has included more than 30 years of leadership experience, working in a wide range of settings including academia, outreach services, public and private practice. She was the first Head of Discipline for Oral Health at the University of Newcastle and Associate Dean at the University of Sydney.
A Conjoint Associate Professor since 2010 and the first female President of ADA NSW, A/Prof Cockrell has lectured at Sydney University and was also a Fellow of the Academy of Dentistry International and the International College of Dentists. She has also chaired the Australian Dental Council’s Accreditation Committee and served as a Professional Officer for the Dental Council of NSW and a Director (Oral Health) with the Centre for Education and Research on Ageing.
All ADA NSW staff and Board members congratulate Conj A/Prof Cockrell on this well-deserved honour.
