Summer is still going strong but ADA NSW’s thoughts are turning towards how best to promote mouthguard awareness for winter sports season participants.
Sports-related injuries account for almost 40% of dental injuries, yet only 36% of Australians wear a mouthguard when playing contact sport and even fewer wear a mouthguard during training.
ADA NSW has heavily promoted the importance of mouthguard awareness in the past and the importance of participants obtaining a custom-fitted mouthguard from their dentist to help best avoid serious dental and oral injuries. ADA NSW is looking to do so again in 2022.

If you’re a practice – particularly in regional NSW – arranging a mouthguard fitting for winter sports participants over the coming weeks, please let us know via communications@adansw.com.au and we may be able to arrange media coverage or further publicity. If you also have other ideas for promoting this initiative – for example, community initiatives or social media activities – we would love to hear about them and share the word w fellow members!
