ADA NSW Mentoring Program

Connect with experience

The ADA NSW Mentoring Program is designed to facilitate partnerships where a mentor can share their personal knowledge, experience and perspective with an independent mentee, to foster their personal and professional judgement.

Eligibility for Mentees is within the first seven years of registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (Ahpra). Mentors must have at least seven years experience registered with Ahpra.

Program Objectives

  • To provide a structured yet flexible opportunity for colleagues to work together in a mutually beneficial partnership and in a strictly confidential setting
  • To allow a more experienced practitioner to provide guidance and support to a less experienced colleague as they transition into the profession
  • To encourage mentors to embrace the professional responsibility of engaging with and supporting younger colleagues
  • Improved service to the community by supporting practitioners in their early careers.

Program Benefits

  • Flexible and negotiable: determined by the goals and objectives of the mentee
  • Confidential: an essential factor in establishing mutually respectful, honest and open communication
  • Reduced stress: for new practitioners who can seek advice and confide in experienced practitioners
  • Personal fulfillment: through passing on knowledge and experience to new practitioners.
