Dr Alex du Bois, Doctor of Clinical Dentistry, was born in Cape Town, South Africa and spent a big part of his childhood living in Germany and the Czech Republic before completing his dentist training in South Africa. From there, he moved to Launceston in 2007 and fell in love with Tassie. Alex completed the Australian Dental Association Exam to recognise his dental degree in Australia and was accepted into the specialist training program (Periodontics) at the University of Adelaide in 2009. After completing his training in 2012, he worked in a busy specialist group practice in Adelaide for four years. With a growing family he and his wife, a General Medical Practitioner, returned to Tasmania and established Hobart Periodontics.
Alex is an honorary Tasmanian and loves the beautiful environment and healthy lifestyle Australia offers. He believes in maintaining a healthy work/life balance because ‘life is too short’ and this is why he has a passion for helping his patients and spending time with family and friends in the great outdoors.
With the help of a devoted and highly skilled team, Dr Alex du Bois performs most of his work on patients from his Collins Street practice or one of the local private hospitals. He continues to stay connected, informed and educated through numerous memberships and affiliations, including Australian and New Zealand Association of Periodontists (ANZAP), International Team for Implantology, (ITI), Australian Society of Periodontology, Australian Osseointegration Society and The Australian Dental Association (ADA). He is also a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Dental Surgeons (FRACDS).
