Dr Marcus Yan completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Sydney in 1994. After four years of general dentistry in NSW, Marcus completed a Master of Dental Science degree in Endodontics from the University of Queensland and a Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS) in 2001. In 2008, Marcus was admitted as a member of the RACDS in the specialist field of Endodontics. Marcus is a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, the International College of Dentists and the Academy of Dentistry International. He was also a captain of the Royal Australian Army Reserve Dental Corps.
Marcus is active in promoting the development of Endodontics in Australia, was the Councilor member (Australia) of the Asian Pacific Endodontic Confederation since 2005 He was also a former president of the Australian Society of Endodontology (NSW) Branch (2006-2007). Recently, Marcus is elected as the secretary for Asian Pacific Endodontic Confederation (2023-2025)
Marcus is particularly interested in rotary instrumentation and surgical endodontics. He has lectured on microsurgical endodontics across Australia and overseas (Hong Kong, Malaysia and South Korea) and published papers in the Australian Endodontic Journal and Annals of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.
Marcus regularly conducts Endodontics courses nationally and internationally. Since 2002, he has been a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Sydney. In 2017, he became a Senior Lecturer in Endodontics at the University of Queensland. Marcus was appointed as a Guest Professor for the Masters of Endodontics program at the International University in Cambodia in 2015 and an Adjunct Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Puthisastra in Cambodia in 2021.
Marcus has participated in various community service initiatives. These include:

Marcus is currently in private practice. Outside of endodontics, Marcus enjoys badminton, running marathons and spending time with his family.
