Tino is a clinician, an academician, mentor, and a clinical researcher. He was awarded the 2021 Australian Dental Association (ADA) Service Medallion Award for “his contribution to clinical periodontics, periodontal Research and dedication to teaching”. He reviews, organize, and conduct numerous Continuing Professional Development Courses and lectures, nationally and internationally.
Tino holds a Clinical Associate Professor position at the Periodontal Post-Graduate Department at the University of Sydney and an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Queensland. His publications dealt on periodontal prognostication, Periodontal Medicine, (correlating Periodontitis to Rheumatoid Arthritis, Diabetes Mellitus, and other systemic inflammation), mucogingival surgical techniques and bone regeneration. His Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) topic is on regenerative management of peri-implantitis and predictable management of recession around teeth and implants using autologous and alternative tissues with biologically active products.
He is the President-Elect for Australia and New Zealand Academy of Periodontists (ANZAP 2024-2026). He has been a member of the ANZAP Council since 2016.He is founding President of the Filipino-Australian Dental Association (FADA), a group that organize dental symposium and charity missions to remote areas of Australia and the Philippines. He is a Periodontal examiner for the for Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS). He is actively involved in various organizing committees of Pierre Fauchard Academy (PFA), International College of Dentists (ICD), RACDS, ADA and International Team of Implantology (ITI). He is a recipient of the prestigious National and Health Medical Research Council Scholarship (NHMRC, 1998 and 2011). His clinical research on maxillary anterior ridge preservation won Best Clinical Research at the last 2020 Osteology World Symposium.
