Residents of Gunnedah to get fluoridated water

The Australian Dental Association NSW welcomes the decision by Gunnedah Shire Council to fluoridate the town water supply.

After a community consultation, the Council today voted to proceed with fluoridation.

Water fluoridation is the most effective way to reduce tooth decay across the population. It is a proven public health measure that benefits all members of the community, but especially the young, the elderly, Indigenous Australians and the disadvantaged.

ADA NSW is pleased the people of Gunnedah will join the 93 per cent of NSW residents who already enjoy the health benefits of fluoridated water, and commends the Councillors for their decision.
