Anterior Composites: Silicone Index Layering Technique

The variety of composite resins on the market enable us to naturally blend in restorations with the remaining dentition. In this video Dr Michael Mandikos restores a class IV cavity by turning it to a class I cavity using a silicon index and a mylar strip. Once achieving this Dr Mandikos uses opaque and translucent composite resin, as well as the addition of mammelons to produce a restoration which is both functional and aesthetic.
Aesthetic Crown Lengthening

Crown lengthening may be indicated where adequate ferrule is not available for crown placement, for increased aesthetics in people with high lip lines and for exposing subgingival fractures in teeth. Dr David Grossberg graduated from the University of Pennsylvania as a specialist periodontist and subsequently moved to Sydney to practice. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Periodontology and in 2003 to 2004 he was president of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Periodontists. Currently he is an Honorary Specialist Clinical Associate at the University of Sydney Dental Hospital and a Fellow of the International College of Dentists. In this video Dr Grossberg guides his viewers through a crown lengthening procedure involving teeth 15 to 25 in real time.
