By age 12, most children have all adult teeth except wisdom teeth, which emerge later. Teens should maintain oral health by brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, flossing daily, eating a balanced diet low in sugar, drinking fluoridated tap water if available, and visiting the dentist regularly.

Orthodontic treatment can help straighten teeth, improve hygiene, reduce tooth wear, and prevent gum damage.

ADA NSW advocates for custom-fitted mouthguards during sports, as they significantly reduce dental injuries and are more comfortable and durable than generic options.
