The 87th Annual Moxham Cup was held on Thursday, 26 September 2024 at Concord Golf Club. Hosted by  ADA NSW, the Moxham Cup is a traditional highlight in the dental sports calendar.

Despite beautiful weather leading up to the golf day, the players were greeted with torrential rain. However, many agreed there was nowhere else they would rather be and they all soldiered on. The 2024 saw a large field competing for the prestigious Moxham Cup.

Sydney dentist Harry Moxham was the instigator of the Moxham Cup in 1929. He donated the trophy we play for today. The Moxham Cup itself is made of solid gold, apparently supplied by the dentists back in the day. He presented the trophy for many years. Despite the weather the course was in pristine condition and we thank Concord Golf Club, the groundsmen, the pro shop, the caterers and staff for ensuring the day was a success. The ADA NSW CEO Jae Redden welcomed our members at lunch.

The 2024 Moxham Cup was presented by Dr Dominic Aouad, President of ADA NSW. The Winner was Dr Angelo Giallussi. Dr Kim Wagstaffe was runner-up with Dr Ellis Vakirtzis taking out the scratch prize.

A J Nutnam from Samson Medical Technologies was the Sponsor’s Winner. Thank you to Dr Andrew Prideaux for his help and organisational skills. There is a lot of administration needed in the lead up, to make the day run smoothly. I would also like to thank Allison and Claire from the ADA NSW CPD office for their attention to detail and invaluable help. Their assistance and efforts were appreciated.

Once again, thank you to our very generous sponsors. We were able to reward those who took out a place with magnificent prizes and presented gifts to the many other golfers who excelled on the day. Lucky door prizes also meant every player had a chance to take home a memento. We are looking forward to next year – the 88^th Annual Moxham Cup.  We hope to see all the regulars and the many new players vying to have their name on this special gold cup.
