Born and raised in Sydney, Nirushan completed his undergraduate training in Queensland, before returning to commence private practice in Sydney. He spent numerous years working in private practice across Sydney, and having always had a keen in interest in Periodontics, Nirushan went on to pursue specialty training at the University of Melbourne, completing his Doctorate in Periodontics.

Nirushan has published articles looking at the role of occlusion in periodontal disease and peri-implantitis, as well as an in-depth look at the complement pathway in periodontitis. Most recently Nirushan authored an article looking into ridge preservation in the anterior maxilla, which was published in the international journal, Clinical Oral Implants Research (COIR).

Nirushan carries out all aspects of comprehensive periodontal management, including management of advanced periodontal disease, mucogingival surgery, and implant surgery. He maintains a particular interest in hard and soft tissue augmentation and root coverage procedures.

Nirushan is an active member of the ADA, currently mentoring our younger dentists as they enter the profession. He maintains an active association with the International Team for Implantology (ITI), Australian Society of Periodontology (ASP), and the Australia and New Zealand Academy of Periodontists (ANZAP).

Outside of dentistry, Nirushan is a keen follower of almost any sport, but in particular his rugby and cricket. Away from the clinic, if he is not with his young family, he is travelling the globe following his favourite sports.
